Winter weddings

Winter weddings

faux fur wrap

There’s nothing quite as nice as a winter weddings… especially for the bride. I in particular find this season to be so luxurious and rich that it’s very easy to imagine heavenly things… I mean just put together snow, your wedding dress, hints of color here and there and… magic begins…

The runway is helping us this year and the next with the deluge of wraps, shrugs and capes… leave alone the bride, bridesmaids are wearing gorgeous shrugs..and don’t they look charming??

Shrugs are great when you want to cover up those shoulders from the cold, add a bit of style and yet are not completely all covered up… We at Wonderful Wraps find them quite fun actually…

According to Mira Zwillinger, Naeem Khan, Jenny Packham and almost everyone else, capes are so very in… some are quite long while others were falling just below the bust line… I also like cloaks as I somehow feel it’s the real thing.. anyway, whatever you wear, wear it with panache…

You can give yourself a vintage look too with just a little twerk here and there… and is there anything as delightful as a swing cape? To me, it just spells a princess tale…

As far as themes go, it seems to be going towards natural and green and white…Keep your bouquet simple but exotic… pine cones are making an appearance, though not very sure where we at Wonderful Wraps stand on this one…pine cones on cakes?? Hmmm… looks good though… metallic accents are working on cakes… with pinecones or without… Succulents are being seen in bouquets and on tables…

Hairstyles are all about braids, whether your hair is up or down the side… head pieces and tiaras are so very in and I get excited… It’s almost like back to the 30s but with a very, very modern twist…

The Monique Lhuillier bridal collection Spring 2015 showcases my vision of the January bride…

And as far as jewellery goes, bling is in…bigger and sparklier .. WW HQ is agog with danglers and broaches… from

Marchesa to Oscar de la Renta all saying big and bright, who are we to say no? a shrug and a brooch seems to be a neat combo…

Wraps and boleros are getting so much coverage that I really don’t want to say it again here… but then it IS one of the number one trends! Lace boleros are not just for winter but very cool even for the autumn or spring bride. Winter brides might want to try a fur lined satin or cashmere bolero… A special word for the cashmere bolero… we at wonderful Wraps think it’s so cool having bridesmaids and the brides all in these short and soft bolero…not just for keeping warm but standing out…

And now for the most important trend of all…what, I can hear you wondering, is the ‘in’ wedding dress like? Sweeties, first of all there is only one ‘in’ wedding dress…the one you feel most ‘you’… forget fashion dictates if you feel comfortable and recognize the ‘on’!! However, trends are trends and it is my job to tell you… colors as you all must be aware are in…peach, mint, ice blue. Bling and sparkles and floral embellishments are all soo soo in, I envy you brides…

Just feel the pulse of the winter, cover up with style (yes, you are truly lucky that it’s fashionable to cover up), put on those sparklers on your hair, ears and wraps…and just wrap the show with a bang!
