Capes, boleros and more…

Winter is almost on us and the fashion pundits predict wraps, wraps and more wraps… capes and capelets, boleros, jackets are all in and in a big way. I am getting very excited at this because yes, you guessed it, I love wraps in every shape and size!! Covered shoulders seem to be giving everyone the hots at the moment. Spring 2015 is all about sleeves, boleros and wraps. Let’s take a look at what’s ruling the runway…

Capes and capelets…

Runways and covers of magazines are full of models wearing capes and capelets…there are a number of capes seen not just on the red carpet but in weddings. If yours is a winter wedding, you definitely have to have one… I am planning to get one and I sure don’t have any wedding coming up…lol…

Sheer illusion long sweeping capes are replacing the train and adding drama…This particular one by Naeem Khan is lined by ostrich feather…

But there’s nothing like a beautifully lined faux fur cape… a memory of bygone days and brings in a lot of romance. Besides it being cozy and warm, we at Wonderful Wraps find it very regal and graceful.

Walk in wearing a faux fur cape and you can be sure everyone at the party will remember you. One bit of advice, sweethearts, don’t scrimp on quality of faux fur and satin while selecting the perfect fur lined cape.

Wraps and stoles…

A wrap or a stole on your arms or wrapped around you gives you both comfort and style… It need not be dull and boring. Frankly speaking I loved little motifs and effects on my wraps… it all depends on what material you choose. So you may have organza, tulle, cashmere, satin, fur, velvet…the list goes on and on…

Brides would look just gorgeous with this organza wrap around them… not too heavy but warm and graceful…and why just brides?

Jackets…

A short jacket over my dress is just what I need for an evening out… the bolero jacket is in and how!! Not just for weddings but for a sophisticated night out… The WW HQ is abuzz with the new cuts and varieties on display on the runway. Whether you choose one with cap sleeves, long sleeves, butterfly sleeves, you have to have one… Both satin and lace is nice but velvet, silk, fur all works equally well. It ends at the bust line.

Bolero…

Lace boleros provide a modest cover for your shoulders and yet show off your beautiful gown. I personally like it because it gives the option of changing your look during the ceremony… feeling modest? Put it on… suddenly want to go strapless? Take it off… as simple as that, not to mention the airiness and delicateness it offers… Everyone from Jenny Packham to Marchessa to
Monique Lhuillier to Pronovias is prescribing bolero over your dress.

So whether you are looking to be modest or just want to add that bit of extra pepper and drama, everything is screaming capes, jackets and wraps…

Hooded cloaks …

Personally I believe that the western brides wear white dresses to symbolize that angels are coming into their lives. And a few accessories to the wedding dress not only make the angels stay warm but also stand as a mark of high end fashion… The wedding cloaks present the perfect finishing touch to almost any outfit that makes a bride feel like a princess. Although capes come in different lengths, a full length cloak that sweeps the floor a bit offers a stylish look. So it will be perfect for the day …

The satin capes add a touch of royalty to the wedding dress rather than velvet ones. However if following a Victorian type wedding the best comrade would be a velvet cloak with a faux fur trim. The trim accents the cloak and creates more interest. With beautiful tiaras a bride may feel that the hoods of the cloaks may mess her hair up but with the hood hanging down the cloak adds a beautiful touch of Victorian era splendor. No messing and yet kissing the fashion lips. The angels now become pretty fashion princesses!!
